A son of Accra, Ghana, Emmy-nominated producer & entrepreneur, Derrick N. Ashong is the founder of Take Back the Media (TBTM), a 21st-Century Tech-Driven Studio targeting the Global South and Diaspora.  He created the TBTM+ entertainment platform to reward fans and creators with a digital reward token called, Kola. 

Derrick has pioneered multi-platform interactive content production for global audiences, working with Oprah, Spielberg, ABC/Disney and Al Jazeera; and is the creator of Africa’s largest music show, The Mic: Africa, which has won 7 major international awards opposite the biggest companies in Media & Entertainment, and has generated over 1 Billion media impressions worldwide.  

He has spoken at the United Nations, MIT, Harvard, Wharton, and Stanford Business Schools, LSE, and UK Parliament on issues of Tech & Society.
